Chhattisgarh disburses MUDRA Yojana

Chhattisgarh government has recently disbursed a loan of 1821 crore to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinancing Agency) Yojana (PMMY).

Ever since the PMMY had been announced, several people around the country had applied for it. In fact in Chhattisgarh alone there were 4, 83,792 applications received. The programme is aimed at giving the young entrepreneurs the necessary back up to start their own business. The ambitious programme is aimed towards boosting small and micro companies.

Launched in April 2015, this programme has been directed towards the non corporate small enterprises. The vision behind this programme is that it will encourage infrastructure and create job opportunities from a very basic level in the country.

PMMY was getting a lot of attention

According to the officials, this scheme had been getting a lot of attention from the youth and they were keenly interested in taking the benefits from it. This is especially true for Chhattisgarh region as a huge sum of 1821.50 crore has just been disbursed for the under privileged. Under this scheme amounts between Rs 50,000 and Rs 10 lakh were being granted as loans to the budding entrepreneurs.

The PMMY was established so that the Micro, Small and Medium Finance (MSME) companies could get enhanced investment. Not only that the department of commerce and industry also plans to conduct workshops in different districts so as to make the budding entrepreneurs educated and capable of running their own business.

In Chhattisgarh about 27 districts were to be taken under this workshop of which already 6 districts were covered in the first phase.

How PMMY helps?

Basically PMMY has divided the investment into three sectors and each sector has its loan amount as follows:

  • Shishu: Up to Rs. 50,000 if your enterprise qualifies under this category.
  • Kishor: From Rs. 5000 to Rs. 5 lakh if your enterprise qualifies under this (small business) category.
  • Tarun: From 5 lakh to 10 lakh. This is the Medium category.Other Articles
